Go this Way Hand
“Go this way!”

The Bible is full of things we should and shouldn’t do. The Jews had 613 Laws they were to follow. Can you imagine trying to keep up with that?

But today, those who are saved have the Holy Spirit of God to teach and instruct. We only need listen to Him. How? Through the Word of God. If we make it a daily practice to read the Bible and then prayerfully meditate on it, God can speak to us and tell us which way to go (Isaiah 30:21 And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left).

I love lists. Things to do, so I can see a desired result. If you’re the same*, here’s some things God expects you to do, and you can start right away.

  1. God expects us to grow for Him.

    Plant growing
    Grow, grow, grow!
  • 2 Thessalonians 1:3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth.
  • 1 Peter 2:1, 2 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.
  1. God expects us to go for Him.
  • Boy going
    “I’m a goin’ !”

Proverbs 11:30 calls us “wise” if we are soul winners (The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise).

  • Matthew 28:19, 20 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
  • Luke 14:23 And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
  • Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
  1. God expects us to “glow” for Him. There’s no point in lighting a candle if we plan to hide it!
    • Matthew 5:13-16 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to
      “This little light of mine.”

be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

    • Luke 8:16 No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light.
    • Philippians 2:14-16 Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.
  1. God expects us to sow for Him. We may not see the fruit, but it’s our duty to sow anyway. It’s God’s responsibility to bring forth the fruit.
    • plant
      You reap what you sow.

Mark 4:3-20 (Parable of the seed and the sower)

    • Luke 8:5-8 (Account of seven loaves of bread feeding 4,000 people with seven baskets of bread left over)
    • 1 Corinthians 3:6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
    • Psalm 126:5, 6 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
    • Matthew 10:32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.
    • Matthew 4:19 And He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
  1. God expects us to show our love and appreciation for Him. He is more than worthy of this!

    heart love
    “Oh, how I love Jesus!”
  • Psalms 92:1, 2 It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night.
  • Luke 8:39 Return to thine own house, and shew how great things God hath done unto thee. And he went his way, and published throughout the whole city how great things Jesus had done unto him.
  • 1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.
  • Ephesians 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light.
  1. God expects us to know Him. We cannot become more like Him if we don’t know Him. Our goal should be to become more and more like Christ each and every day.
    • Think Know
      “Eureka! I’ve got it now!”

1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

    • Philippians 3:10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death.
    • Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

As you draw closer to God and begin to mirror His Son, you will find it easier and easier to do the things God expects from you. And as His child, should He expect any less?
