KNOWING THE WILL OF GOD* (by Janine Mick Wills)
Finding, knowing, and then performing the will of God is the most important thing you will ever do. Here’s some help if you don’t know God’s will for your life, aren’t sure how to perform it, or give assurance if you are.
The first and most important part of finding the will of God is to be saved.**
Mark 3:35 For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.
John 6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
Galatians 1:4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father.
A Christian should seek God’s will in everything she does, even things that seem ordinary.
Romans. 1:30 Making request, if by any means now at length I (Paul) might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you.
Romans 15:32 That I may come unto you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed.
The Holy Spirit makes intercession for a Christian when she prays according to God’s will.
Romans 8:26, 27 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
A Christian’s thoughts must be right before God before she may know His will.
Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
The will of God is for a Christian to be holy.
1 Thessalonians 4:3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication.
1 Peter 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
The will of God is for a Christian to be thankful in everything.
Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
The will of God is for a Christian to be in subjection to authorities.
1 Peter 2:13-15 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men.
The will of God is for a Christian to do right in the face of evil men.
1 Peter 3: 16, 17 Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ. For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.
Matthew 5:10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
1 Peter 4:19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
The will of God is for a Christian to be as Christ and not sin.
1 Peter 4:1, 2 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
A Christian is called into the ministry by the will of God.
Acts 13:36 For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption.

The Christian will be rewarded for doing the will of God.
Hebrews 10:36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
1 John 2:17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
