There are days when sticky fingers, spilled milk, messy diapers, and crumbs on the new couch make us want to pack our bags and head back to our mothers! Sometimes the best we can do is tie a knot on the end of the rope and claim, “(S)he that endureth to the end shall be saved” (Matthew 10:22).

You and I have probably experienced similar things over the years (Some of which my kids didn’t confess until years later after they left home).

  • The breaking of the ATM’s glass door
  • A hand stuck in a bubble gum machine
  • The pulling of the Commissary’s fire alarm
  • The calling of the fire department to a fake fire

But those things are more than compensated by:

  • A childish love-note I still keep in my Bible
  • A note of appreciation written by an adult “kid”
  • When all three kids call me on my birthday and Mother’s Day
  • A bear hug that takes my breath away and warms my soul

Motherhood occasionally requires a pat on the back and an extra shot in the arm. When that happens, visit this page and meditate on the following verses. It could be exactly what the Good Doctor ordered!

Kids and I

Me and my “kids” (September 2016)

And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Matthew 18:2-6

And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them. But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. Mark 10:13-15

And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:  And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. Deuteronomy 6:6, 7
