I’ve been married to my first (and only) husband for over 37 years! I love nothing better than being Mrs. Jeff Wills. Now, don’t get me wrong. There have been days I’ve wanted Jeff to take a long walk off a short pier (Oh, don’t be so pious. You know you’ve thought the same thing once or twice about your husband!).

There has been blood (not much outside of childbearing and several surgeries), sweat (OK, I’m cold natured and rarely sweat, but my husband can sweat buckets!), and tears (And yes, there have been plenty of those, but the joy and laughter supplants the sorrow a thousand-fold!). But I wouldn’t trade my job for all the jobs in the universe put together!

Whether you’ve been married a few days, a few years, or like me, a few decades, we all need encouragement now and again. We need reminded how special our job of helpmeet to our husband is. Visit this page often to reflect and bask in the joy that God gives and can give to us wives as we seek to please Him and our husbands!

And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. Genesis 2:18

And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. Genesis 2:23, 24

Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear. For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands: Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement. Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered. 1 Peter 3:1-7

Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. Ephesians 5:21-24

For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. Ephesians 5:31

Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. Colossians 3:18

To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. Titus 2:5

Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. 1 Corinthians 7:2-4

And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband. 1 Corinthians 7:10

For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy. For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy husband? or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife? 1 Corinthians 7:14, 16

Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD. Proverbs 18:22

House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the LORD Proverbs 19:14

Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity: for that is thy portion in this life, and in thy labour which thou takest under the sun. Ecclesiastes 9:9

Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them. Colossians 3:18, 19
